Previously rotated files don't show as rotated in XnView browser

I rotated some of my photos ages before with some lossless JPEG rotator. They show up properly as rotated in Windows'file manages but not in XnView's browser. What can I do about it?

Did you apply rotation to JPEG images? Did you rotate the images using "Image > Rotate" or "Tools > JPEG lossless transformations" menu? Perhaps the image was rotated but the EXIF thumbnail wasn't, see section "Troubleshooting" in topic 'How to rotate images automatically'.

What happens if you ..
1.) In Browser mode select "View > Rebuild thumbnails"?

If the above doesn't change anything, please try the following on one image:
1.) In Browser mode select an image which is not oriented properly.
2.) Select "Edit > Metadata > Recreate EXIF thumbnail"
3.) Optional: Select "View > Rebuild thumbnails"

If your image is oriented properly after applying the above steps, the EXIF thumbnail is the problem.
