1. When setting a rating on a photo, the rating value (1, 2 ... 5) is written both in the file properties and in the XMP:rating field.
Why this redundant writing?
Photoshop CS4 (/File/File info) also manages photo ratings by writing/modifiying the XMP:rating field only.
If the rating is modified in PS, then there is a mismatch in the file.
XNView uses the file-property-rating to display the rating on the thumbnail.
2. The "Edit IPTC/XMP" dialog does not have a "XMP" tab to edit XMP fields
(Windows XP / XNView MP 0.21)

OK, understood.
Rephrasing : "The rating is written both in the XnV db and in the file XMP:rating.
XNView does handle both correctly.
But if the XMP:rating is modified from inside an other software (Photoshop), then the image file is not coherent anymore with XNView db.
Why storing the XMP:rating in the db?

Re: Photo "Rating"
Thank you for the answers, Pierre.
Suggestion 1. : Add the rating in the Edit IPTC/XMP Dialog.
Suggestion 2. : Make the Edit IPTC/XMP dialog accessible (ctrl I) from an image viewer mode tab. Not just from the browser tab.
Best regards.
Philippe

Re: Photo "Rating"
Sorry, I still don't get it. What I want is access my ratings from Adobe Tools, especially Lightroom, and XNView.xnview wrote:In Options tab, you have Mode. You can select if you want to edit IPTC or/and XMPphilippe.m wrote: I did not find where to set the dialog tabs
When setting xmp:Rating, this rating is not shown in XNView. Setting Rating in XNView does not update the
xmp:Rating.
So which settings must I change to get this?
