Windows 8, 64-bit
Dell Laptop
XnView 2.03 en
I attempted to open a PDF with XnView and it prompted me to install Ghostscript.
I went to the Ghostscript web site, and installed it, however XnView cannot see see it still. I have restarted the system a couple of times.
XnView is installed in the x86 folder (default) but Ghostscript's default folder is the "Programs" folder which is different.
I was not able to find anything in the Settings area of XnView to allow me to point to the Ghostscript folder, etc.
Suggestions?

Re: XnView cannot see Ghostscript
No the 64 bit version since Windows 8 is 64 bit
The file name used to install is GhostScriptgs907w64
Version 9.07 for 64-bit machine. Obtained from SourceForge
Is the 32-bit version required?
I was going to install the 64-bit version of XnView but it is tagged as experimental so I used the standard 32-bit version.

Re: XnView cannot see Ghostscript
XnView is 32-bit software and requires GS 32-bit even when installed on Windows 64-bit.

OK - I'll give it a try. since this was a 64-bit machine I made some poor assumptions. My bad.
Might want to change the pop -up when convenient.

Re: XnView cannot see Ghostscript
I installed the 32 bit version of Ghost Script and it worked OK. I'm a little disappointed in the image quality however but it is workable.
I uninstalled the 64-bit version of GS for the time being as beyond this I had no other use for GS at this time.
Thanks much

You probably need to increase the DPI setting...sunclad wrote:

The default GS value is 72 which is too low for most purposes.
@Pierre:
Is it technically possible to increase the default value used by XnView, as suggested recently by Helmut, or would it be overwritten when GS is installed?
