Two bugs (during using v0.53)
Hi,
I currently have no reproduction to give but I will explain the Two of each so that if other users have experienced the same isue they could contribute too:
A.) Lots of pictures (tabs) opened in View, that have been edited and Unsaved, may cause XnViewMP v0.53 program to freeze or long freeze. (my original test: This is a folder with 2,700 pictures)
B.) If I open many View tabs with different pictures all from the same one folder, then move just one new picture into this folder - Then there seems to be a huge RAM memory increase with a longer than expected program freeze. At one time a crash. (my original test: This is a folder with 2,700 pictures)
I will try to find a reproduction for each but until then these bugs can be treated as low priority.

Hello,
"MP0.56-Linux - Freeze + heats the CPU at 100%"
I have this kind of issue (with some *.ppt files ) ... freeze + heats the CPU at 100% ... so the bug here seems to come when XnViewMP try to build the 4 (or 1) images per folder with some problematics files.
View topic here too:
http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.p ... 05#p110005
Here too, but not depends on how many tabs are opened or not... but always arrives (for the moment) at the step: "LOAD BITMAP" --> into the terminal.
... I am on XnViewMP 0.51 Linux version 64bit, and I also have some times this long long freeze (until I kill the XnViewMP process
) , it's annoying because it freezes of course the XnViewMP program itself, but also because this heats the CPU at 100% ... until I kill the related xnview.sh process. (so, a severe bug)
This bug often comes here when I try to browse new folders with some news pictures to load or to add to the data base at the step ? : (LOAD BITMAP...) ...
... And even if I force to close the XnViewMP window, I also have to kill the process (of xnview.sh) ... here for example, the process 5038 here... I think, in case of long freeze (problem or bug) this process must be killed automatically with a warning.
... It seems than the culprit file is here a ppt file, because I have deleted it and now no problem within this branch of directories ... but this behavior should not come out even in case of a problematic file.
... So maybe the best way, in a first step, is to exclude the(or some) file extension *.ppt into the custom setting\ File list\ Custom filter\ ... Exclude: htm html mht mhtml xml xhtml eml nws url ppt
------------
Edit: Same problem if .ppt extension is excluded (after View\Rebuild thumbnails) ... so the bug seems to come when XnViewMP try to build the 4 (or 1) images per folder with some ppt files (but not all, because I have tried with an other one, and no bug)
...Stop at the ppt samples folder:

This bug report is about MP and I don't want to hijack this thread, but since both editions of XnView share (to a certain extent) the same code base, it may be worth mentioning that there have been (recurring) issues with PowerPoint files before:

If you have this file in a ampty folder, you have the freeze?oops66 wrote:Hello Pierre, Here it is:xnview wrote:could you send me ppt file?
