I've renamed xnview.exe to xnviewmp.exe so that Win7's Open With would contain both MP and the classic XnView, which has the same file name, and some better features while lacking unicode. After that, launching Associate files with XnViewMP.exe would perform registry entries for xnview.exe.
Not really a bug, I know it's static coded, but you should know about it.
Also it would have been nice if the 64 bit exe's would be named xnview64.exe or something like that.
I run XnView form a separate storage folder, from where I launch multiple tools, from various OS versions, so that I don't have to always install tools. Keeping things tidy.
Also it seems the Associator doesn't override some of the file registry.
For instance, .jpg is still default to jpegfile even if it has XnViewBAK key.
When I opened it for the first time, I got the list of apps I can use to open the file... checked default and opened it with XnViewMP... in HCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.jpg under UserChoice is registered as Applications\xnviewmp.exe. This should not have happened as pe Associator's default setup.
