0.60 (& earlier) Linux: Exif tags in viewer mode unreadable

Post by Klaas »

Here's a small issue with Linux, I hope it has not been posted yet - I already noticed it in earlier versions of MP since about a year:

In viewer mode, the Exif tag designations in the "EXIF" tab (and just in that tab) are unreadable (as they are moved for about 8 pixels to the top so they don't fit the table rows anymore):
exiftags.jpg
exiftags.jpg (107.78 KiB) Viewed 1367 times
This does not happen in the other tabs including the "ExifTool" tab...

System: Ubuntu 13.04 (and earlier) with Xfce, MP .60 (and earlier) Linux 64Bit. As far as I remember I did't change Ubuntu's font settings, at least I did not increase the font size...

At least with every file that makes the Exif tab appear at all, i.e. of course with JPGs that have Exif data... I didn't notice a difference in this respect between single files...

Hö, does "pane" refer to that what I called "tabs"? IPTC-IM, XMP, ExifTool etc. pp.? (I'm simply not sure about the correct designations here, sorry!) Everything is okay with them. Moreover, I exclusively noticed that strange font appearance in the Exif tab (pane?) as shown in the screenshot and nowhere else. :-)

I switched from "Autodetect" (which on my system results in German) to "English" - and indeed the font looks normal just as it should, the problem is gone. :-)

But I tried various other languages... The font looks false (shifted to the top, cf. screenshot above...) again if I switch to French, Spanish, or Italian. (So I suspect it cannot be problem with the German version...)

To make things more difficult, the font looks okay again if I select Dutch or Hebrew. (Perhaps because those language versions don't translate the Exif tag designations at all? Just an idea...)

(I didn't try all languages available...)

And again, just to make that clear again: No problems at all for me under Windows, at least for me it is just an issue of (Ubuntu) Linux...

Hello Pierre,

I do have exactly the same problem here(xnviewMP 0.71). Having it through all the MP versions.
In english it is shown correctly. In german i can only see the lower half. Is there a way to solve this problem?

As this is my first post, i like to thank you. I use xnview for a long time and are very happy with it.
