I do not know if I did not find or really lacking in MP: the ability to copy a portion of the image and paste it into another part of the image (copy & paste within the same image, I do not know if it is understood). In XnView classic I can do this.
Thank you!
Copy & paste a portion of the image

Re: Copy & paste a portion of the image
I'm sure it would be added in future so that it's like XnView classic, perhaps it would be improved for XnViewMP so that the pasted image in View mode can be moved around & dynamically resized etc

Re: Copy & paste a portion of the image
I can confirm this problem.
i have tested it in xnview mp v0.56 and v0.6 on linux mint 15 cinnamon 32bit.
When i copy the while image or just a selected area and then choose Edit > Paste, or press Ctrl + V , nothing happens.
If i choose Edit > copy to clipboard > image data, or if i copy an image from another application, the paste button gets grayed out.
Choosing Edit > Import clipboard opens the copied image in a new tab,
so the copied image is available to xnview mp, it just seams like the paste button isn't working.
Pasting ontop of an open image or in a selection works in Xnview 2.03 running through PlayOnLinux 4.2.1 (Wine).

Ok, could be that "paste button isn't working". Even I cannot paste in a new tab...Choosing Edit > Import clipboard opens the copied image in a new tab,

I think this option it's important! I am struck that does not work in MP.
Thanks for your comment!

Pierre, yes thank you for adding to this XnViewMP 0.61....
...However as I quote:
Please consider it for pasted images, I await your tchnical response Pierre

It would be really nice if upon pasting the image, the pasted image would be auto-select all and ready for resizing or for moving around with the left-mouse button (without the left-mouse button needing to be held). I am sure I have seen this feature done in an image editor somewhere.budz45 wrote:so that the pasted image in View mode can be moved around & dynamically resized etc

Re: Copy & paste a portion of the image
In MS Paint (shipped by default with Windows 95 and later). Borland/Inprise/Embarcadero Resource Editor has the same feature but also for non rectangular shapes (masks). It can be done if he keeps the selected area in an offscreen bitmap. However the trick is to take in account a possible future development for irregular areas (ie. using an Alpha channel) and for layers.budz45 wrote:Pierre, yes thank you for adding to this XnViewMP 0.61....

....hmmmm.... ...mhmmm... hmhmmhmm.......It can be done if he keeps the selected area in an offscreen bitmap. However the trick is to take in account a possible future development for irregular areas (ie. using an Alpha channel) and for layers...
And then, perhaps, we can apply the filters to the selected area only???
This layering engine will be especially interesting if we'll combine it with the non-destructive editing from here: http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.p ... 24#p112633
...hmmm... ...mmmmmmm....
