Rebuilding Thumbnails

Post by Condoman »

I am using XnView 2.04 and love it. The way I designed my image folders is to have the folder represent an event. The only problem with this is looking at all pictures at one time is not possible.

My resolution is to have an index folder that contains a .lnk shortcut to every image file. This is created off hours by a script. Of course this loads slow in XnView and a rebuild of the XnView.db takes about 25 minutes. The slow loading is OK since I do not look at the index all that often. I am looking for a way to load the thumbnails automatically.

I am at the point where I have a script to delete the XnView.db, launch XnView to the index folder and after 25 minutes the screen displays and the initial loading of thumbnails is rendered. My problem is that only about 8k of the 10k images are loaded in the XnView.db. What can be done to force a complete rebuild of the thumbnails?

Thanks

No, I can get it to make all 10k of the thumbnails if I scroll to the bottom. I guess I do not understand when the thumbnails will be refreshed and when not.

Since my first posting I tried adding a new .lnk and deleting an existing .lnk. Upon launching it did update the thumbnails (XnView.db was not deleted this time) , but I had already forced it through all 10k of them.
