"Live" refresh of thumbnails

Post by bsteph10 »

Hello,

I'd like to see a live refresh of files as they're added to a directory. This would be for thumbnail view. I've checked "Auto Refresh" but it's very sluggish, maybe every 30 seconds, sometimes not at all. The situation is the files are being added to the directory from a batch scanner at another computer and I'd like to monitor it's progress and quality from my computer. Is there a way to do this with XnView? I'd like to see the new thumbnails as they appear at the bottom of the directory list. I've looked through the .ini file but I didn't see any obvious way to change the "Auto Refresh" rate. Thank you very much for your help.

Hi Pierre,

Thank you for your response. I just tried out XNViewMP and it refreshes exactly like I want, however we haven't been using XNViewMP because Tiff G4 images look very bad in it. These are 1 bit Tiff Group 4 compressed images and in XNView Windows they look very nice, text is smooth and sharp but in XNViewMP the text is blocky and jagged. Is there some type of "smoothing" applied in XNView Windows that is not in XNViewMP? I'm running 2.04 for XNView Win and .61 for XNViewMP.

Thanks,

Bryan

PS: It looks like we have the same problem with tif images as 3dot in this thread: http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=28537

The XnView TIFF display can be *downgraded* to the quality of the XnViewMP TIFF display by turning off High quality zoom at:

Tools > Options >View - View - High quality zoom

That suggests that the High quality zoom function in XnViewMP isn't working correctly:

Tools > Settings... > View - View

If you can't enhance the display of TIFFs using that setting -- and I can't in a quick test -- you might file a bug report for that function in the relevant section 'MP Testing - Bug Reports' if there isn't a satisfactory response to this thread.

Update:

It's confusing, I'm now getting good quality TIFF images in XnView and XnViewMP with High quality zoom selected in both...

No, sorry, that was only with the images zoomed in. It does look as if High quality zoom isn't working in XnViewMP.
