This shouldn't happen very often, but still...
1) Rename an image that so that it DOES NOT have an extension.
2) Open the image.
3) Remove Metadata. (Or, if the image doesn't have any to start with, add IPTC data for the same result.)
4) Save the image.
5) Check back in browser to see missing thumbnail.
The only way I can get a thumbnail back is to rename the image WITH a proper extension. Close XnView and then reopen XnView.

Do you have option/Browser/File list/Recognize only by extension?kaptainkory wrote:This shouldn't happen very often, but still...

Ok, it's not a problem with metadata...kaptainkory wrote:Why, yes, I do. However, even when the extension is added back, the thumbnail still doesn't show up until after XnView is relaunched. (This seems to only occur under the condition of changing Metadata while the image is without an extension...)
