Hello Pierre,
this happens also on my Surface Pro 2. xnview 0.64 crashes when started with the icon and it doesn't crash when startet with a picture. It doesn't matter if it is in English or German.
Help appreciated.
May it be cause of the integration of OneDrive/SkyDrive?
Merci
Felix

Re: 0.61: Crash on Windows 8.1 Pro x64
Hi,
sorry for the late reply.
There are no videos in the directory.
I've created an other user account - with no MS account - on the same tablet and it works there. Also on an other laptop - with MS account - it seems to work well.
I'm also having problems with an other program - PSP X6 from Corel. This couldn't be installed with my primary account, but with the second one - where also XNview MP runs.
Trying now to save everything and do a fresh installation.
Don't know why the account has problems and where they're caused from.
This were the only problems I had and have some other programs already installed.
Is there a way to figure out, what leads to the error?
Merci
Felix

Re: 0.61: Crash on Windows 8.1 Pro x64
What I figured out is:
If started for the first time, it works fine.
After starting again - from desktop - it crashes.
If started from explorer (pictures directly) it works.
If xnview.ini is deleted, we start from beginning.
When using another account - without special characters in user name on same machine - it works.
May it be caused by special characters in user name?
Jürgen converts to J\xfcrgen (from xnview.ini). And Jürgen is my user nameex
Just as an idea.
Merci
Felix

Re: 0.61: Crash on Windows 8.1 Pro x64
Hi. I've just downloaded and installed the latest version of XnView on Windows 8.1. I quickly ran into similar problems as described by others i.e. the prog crashing when I clicked on the icon.
I dug through the settings looking for possible culprits. The solution, at least for me, was to untick the "Always exclude removable drives" under Browser/Database.
As you may have surmised, I elected to use custom locations on removable media (which I won't be removing) for storing some of the files. However I did leave the ini file in the default location.

Re: 0.61: Crash on Windows 8.1 Pro x64
After the v0.7 comes out, I make a fresh installation of xnviewmp, delete old one and release the downloaded zip. The new version works fine at first, after some configuration it still works, close and reopen it, no problem. but it began to crash again when I apply the dark theme. It will still fully functional at the time the theme applied but it will crash at next time launch. Delete 2 qss
files, crash is gone, xnviewmp will again act normal.
I have tried customized qss file and the build-in version theme, both will cause crash.
Really hope this message help, sorry for my english
