I have a few digital paintings that do not have any colour profile because the software used to create them does not assign any profile to them. This creates a problem when trying to get the images printed in the colour they were intended to be.
I have been advised the XnConvert is able to assign colour profiles to images. But I need to assign a profile to the image so that it prints out as I see it on my screen.
Could anyone give me an idea of how I would assign a colour profile and what colour profile I would need to use. I am a complete beginner with colour profiles etc.. and find the subject completely baffling!

Thank you for your reply Pierre.
But how would I know which profile to use? Or is that a stupid question?

Re: Assigning colour profiles
I went into ICC convert and applied the RGB profile / colour space (as this is has a wider gamut than sRGB) but nothing changed on the image preview. Then I converted it anyway to see if anything would change but it didn't.
Correct me if I am wrong ...I expected the preview image to change in colour giving me an idea of what it would print out like with RGB setting? Have I got this totally wrong?
Please can you offer some guidance because I don't have a clue what I am doing!
