PDF compression settings

The Quality spin box in …
  • Tools » Options... » General » Read/Write » Write » PDF
… should be grayed out, if Compression type isn't set to JPEG.

I support: this is an anomaly and could be confusing to inexperienced users.

Only one of the six available PDF compression options is lossy and so requires a Quality setting: JPEG .

The others: None -- Fax -- Packbits -- LZW -- ZIP are all lossless so the Quality value entered is not used.

So yes, grayout if possible, alternatively possibly label 'JPEG Quality' as used for the TIFF compression options:

Also, could the PDF 'Fax' option please show whether it's Fax 3 or Fax 4, or better use 'CCITT G4' as in the above TIFF image?
