"Save as.." to existing file - two different alerts?

Post by Peter2 »

I have "test.png" in my folder. I have another file opened and start "Save as ..." with ..

a) "test.png" and "filetype" is set to PNG
b) "test", and "filetype" is set to PNG

Now I get two different messages (alerts) which says me that file already exists. But messages have small differences in wording and small differences in appearnce.

I believe these messages come from XnView, Peter.

xnview.exe (English) vs. xnviewde.dll (German):
  • String #4024
    • English: “The file <%s> already exists !\n\nDo you want to overwrite it ?”
German: “Die Datei '%s' existiert bereits.\nWollen Sie die vorhandene Datei überschreiben?”
    String #4403
    • English: “This file exists already, do you want to overwrite it?”
German: “Diese Datei ist bereits vorhanden. Wollen Sie die Datei überschreiben?”
    String #4436
    • English: “The filename <%s> already exists, do you want to overwrite it?”
German: “Die Datei <%s> ist bereits vorhanden, wollen Sie die Datei überschreiben?”
What is the value of the SaveAdvDlg entry in the [Start] section of your xnview.ini?
Claude “Clo” Charries (XnView English Help Manual » Option details » Extra INI-Entries) wrote:[Start]
SaveAdvDlg=1
Allows a fine-tuning of the previous entry functions above by saving the state of the advice dialogue.
Using it, you may avoid the unwanted “Overwrite” dialogue when saving a changed file only.

It was undefined, now I set it to "1" - and have this fragmented message:

I've added this to the list of truncated labels.
