Renumbering pages

How do I renumber pages when scanning a booklet so it runs in sequence? I have been told by Batch rename but then what? I want to be able to scan the booklet and have it automatically number correctly not have to sit an manually move the pages. Is this possible?

XnView has the batch renaming facility you mention but there are also a number of freeware renumbering utilities available, so the best solution may to some extent depend on the renumbering you need to do.

Could you give an example of typical before and after number sequences?

Are you scanning using your scanner software directly, or possibly from within XnView (File > Acquire into...) ?
