I work with XNview MP 0.64 with following settings:
* Browser mode
* Filelist in Details mode (without thumbnails)
* Preview is on
I select sequence of files in filelist holding "Shift" key and pressing "Up Arrow" key several times (five, for example).
Now, when I had selected six files, I want to deselect last two files (they selected by mistake, for example).
Continue holding "Shift" key, I press "Down Arrow" key two times. Both times "Preview" shows me FIRST SELECTED FILE, not current (where cursor moves). This is very inconvenient because I don't see, what files has been actually deselected.
This occurs only if you deselecting files in "reverse" order - pressing "Down Arrow" key. If you select/deselect in normal direction (Down/Up arrows), then Preview works OK.
OSes: Windows 7 x64, Windows XP.

Re: 0.64 Selection and preview
Confirmed in xnview mp 0.64 on linux mint 16 cinnamon 32bit.
it also happens if one holds down ctrl or shift and
selects items in the list with the mouse,
as soon as an item is deselected,
the preview goes back to showing the selected item that's lowest in the list.
And it doesn't just happen in the details viewing mode,
it happens in all of the view modes in the menu: View > View as
