When the right button is set to make selections,
and one right clicks outside the selection,
then the right click menu opens.
1. tools > settings > keyboard/mouse: right button: make selection
2. draw a selection on an image
3. right click outside the selection
Result:
the selection is removed (expected)
the right click menu opens (unexpected)
Solution:
If the right button is set to "make selection",
and there is a selection on the image,
Right clicking:
On the selection:
open the right click menu.
Outside the selection:
remove the selection,
do not open the right click menu.
If there is no selection on the image,
Right clicking:
should open the right click menu.
It might also be a good idea to add Crop to the
right click menu when there is a selection on an image,
this applies to both when the left or right button is used for selecting.

Re: Drawing selection with RButton, cancel opens menu
I'm not sure whether you solved 'how to crop? I also was having trouble too, expecting a sub-menu with a right click but eventually I cracked it thus! In essence, open the original image, right click on it for sub-menu and hit Shift + X to introduce the drawing tool (hidden at this stage), now left click mouse at top left area and hold down to open/select crop area, hit crop icon on ribbon to 'cut' the area, hit save-as icon on ribbon to assign the crop a unique filename. Note for moderator! I did forum search for help to crop and got a nil return.
