I use XnView Version 0.64 (Jan 4 2014) under LinuxMint 15 Olivia.
For some weeks, each time I want to open a folder with a text file inside .txt( or a .MOV), Xnview shut down at once. Even if the file is in a sub-folder. I don't remember I had this issue before. I opened in a console to show you messages at this time:
This case is with a sub-folder "txt" in the "Bygdebok_Gjerpen" folder.
I remember that when Xnview was not able to open a file, he just display an icone, did it?
Thanks for help.
To simplify I create a folder Test with just a very little text file azerty.txt.
When I open this folder I get in the browser the thumbnail of this file. But when I left click on the thumbnail to get the display XnView shut down, as you can see.
I join the file, without the .txt extension because it is not allowed in this forum !

It just contain the caracters azertyu
... Strange, I do not have this bug here ...
...A workaround for the moment should be : Settings\Browser\File list\Custom filter\ uncheck show in preview for .txt files (or remove the "txt" extension)
I did what you said (I uncheck the three cases), but XnView shut down at once when I open the folder with this file.
As I said before, the same issue happen when I have in the folder a .MOV .avi or .mp4 with or without extension.
I remove just txt, because I have just a text file in this folder to test, without .txt extension this time.
XnView shut down when I tried to open the folder:

I uninstall and re-install XnView, but the same happened.

File formats that can't be uploaded directly can be uploaded if placed in a a zip archive...
Thanks for the idea.
For the XnView shut down problem:
-I restart my system in recovery mode
-then I restart normaly
-then I open XnView
-then I click on the Test folder
-then Xnview disappeared
