You can turn it off by deactivating Use tooltips in Tools » Settings... » Browser » Browser, tony.
Re: Why do I get this popup info all the time?
Many thanks. I wish there was a comprehensive manual as there are so many things I don't understand and can't find quick answers to except for pestering forum users ( who have been very helpful! ) If tooltips is off what is the image data option for?
ie Why show four thumbnails in folders thumbnail - actually - don't understand that, is it best to use embedded or create from original thumbnail? Should I use the alpha channel - whatever that is?
As you can see, for someone who is using XN as merely a catalog software there is a lot that is not clear. I am not moaning as it is a great app and does all my tagging, renaming, moving, copying, keywording without a hitch. Its just I am not sure if I have set the whole program up properly.
Cheers

Please refer to “What does 'Image Data' (Ctrl + shift+c) is supposed to do ?” for more information.tonyt wrote:If tooltips is off what is the image data option for?

Hacker ([Question] What do these options mean ?) wrote:That depends on if you prefer speed or quality. Most digital cameras embed small JPEG preview thumbnails directly into the large JPEG images. It's a small image inside the original, large image. The small image is what you get when you quickly browse through the images on the camera in playback mode. XnView utilizes these small images to create thumbnails lightning fast. Instead of taking the whole image and downsizing it, it just takes the small image and shows it.
The good about using embedded thumbnails:
- lightning fast
The bad:
- you cannot affect their quality in any way, as opposed to letting XnView create thumbnails from the large image. XnView just takes the small image as it is.
XnView allows you to turn off the transparency mask of 32-bit (RGBA) images in case you'd like to analyze them.tonyt wrote:Should I use the alpha channel - whatever that is?
