Slow loading directories with Postscript files

Hello,

I'm using XnView to browse some directories on a network drive, and file lists show up very slowly (even with the cache turned on). The Postscript files seem to be the ones slowing things down. Is there some way to avoid reading anything from the files to speed this up?

The preview window is closed, and in fact I'd rather it just show me the filenames than do anything else (like find the image size, etc.)

It's possible that the cache isn't working properly on my system, but even if it were, I generate lots of new Postscript files and so the cache wouldn't be a huge help.

Thanks for any advice...XnView is great otherwise.

Do you speak of the XnView cache?
Especially in a network environment, the cache of XnView should speed up things a lot, since thumbnails of the images are stored locally and have not recalculated by loading the whole pictures. You activate the cache in the options "Tools->Options", category "Browser->Cache" by checking the checkbox "Enable caching".

Thanks for your reply. I had already done that (re other messages on this group), and the loading of directories is still too slow to be acceptable. Also, many new Postscript files are being added to the dir, so a cache doesn't help with them.

Is there an option to turn off all reading of file info for the directory window?
