Basic question about XNView

Hi,

I’m not used to Image Viewers because I see all my photos with the viewer that comes with Windows.

So I’d like to ask you a very simple and basic question that is: with XNview do the photos stay in the same folders where they are or is there any change of places or any change in the photos themselves. Is it as safe as Windows viewer or not (from this point of view, obviously)?

If we crop or resize a photo it’s obvious that we make a change in a photo, but what I’d like to be sure is, apart from these cases, if the photos can be changed without our wish.

The photos stay in the same place, as for the Microsoft viewers.

When XnView is used as a viewer, photos do not change unless you change them and then save the changes using File > Save .

XnView is a Viewer, Editor and File browser. The Viewer should work the same as any other viewer, the Editor has powerful image editing facilities and can perform batch processing of images, and the File browser has powerful facilities to manage collections of images using categories and to manage metadata including EXIF and IPTC data.

So XnView should be as safe the Windows viewers although the increased capabilities do result in a more complex interface, and whether you would find it useful really depends on what additional functions you need.
