i see references to it in some forums that it's missing in the MP (but i guess *was* in the classic). so i checked out the classic and i don't seem to see anything there either.
am i missing something?
EDIT: actually i see the option in classic (i downloaded and installed, but must have been doing something else because i had MP open and then thought that was the classic).
anyway, is there a plan to add this to MP at some point?
Is there a Contact Sheet function anymore?

Re: Is there a Contact Sheet function anymore?
Up front..
Sofar I -never- created a contact sheet, so I did not know how to create one and alsod did not know that it wasn't / isn't available in MP.
Having MP installed, I went on to select the thumbnails, then used File->Print, adjusted rows/colums (in the preview), etc->then selected SnagIt as printer, which was -admittedly- a wild guess.
I used SnagIt hoping that it would then land into the SnagItEditor so to save it as png file.
Again a wild guess and -yes- I know now, definitely wrong.
Because what happened...
When doing the above it started an unbelievably heavy disk-activity.
After each click I tried, I had to wait for about 1 or 2 minutes(!) before something happened.
When using alt-ctrl-del to get to the task manager, after some time I got a black screen, with just a mouse arrow and after 1,5-2 minutes I got a warning that alt-ctrl-del was not available and I should use esc to return, which also took 1-2 minutes.
I tried rmb taskbar to get to the taskmanager, but that was successful after a few attempts only.
The heavy hd activity went on and on an on ..
Eventually after 25 minutes (I clocked it!) I again tried, rmb click taskbar and at 28 minutes, (yes, took 3 minutes! to finally reach the 'processes') I could finally kill xnview.exe.
At 29 minutes finally disk activities stopped.
During the activities a "C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS\FP00000.SPL" was created that started with just 64kb and in 151 steps ended in a spl file of 2.2GB which I then cud kill.
That was yesterday. Today I found
http://www.xnview.com/wiki/index.php/Contact_Sheet
But in the forum I noticed that this feature is not available in XnViewMP.
Used the portable XnView, regretfully there is no preview there, so I donot know how many sheets will be created.
Anyway, hopefully it will be available in MP, with a preview (similar to the printpreview)
Oh... I tried again, but now with output Acrobat PDF
and again, very heavy disk activities.
In the end I had switch off the pc (using the pwr button).
That is risky though, with many applications open.
So, better donot print thumbnails to a file.

as long as it is not yet available in MP and you dono wish to use the other XnView
then there is a free, portable, tool, called Snap2IMG (rlvision) that can create single sheets.
I am now running it in the background to create multiple sheets of thumbnails in subfolders.
As said, maybe this can be of used in the meantime of waiting for MP solution.
