Check for updates not working XnView for Windows

Since I have upgraded to Windows 8, the "check for update" function on XNview does not work.

Is there any way to fix this ?

You can always check manually for new XnView versions on FileHippo and FileHorse.

It goes without saying that you can manually check for updates.
However the "check for update"still does not work.

Hi

I am using Win 8 and XNview 2.0

From the ïnfo"menu "check for update"nothing happens.
I manually look for new versions.

The update menu has worked in the past but not since I upgraded to Win 8.

I can confirm this. After one year this problem still exist. I even checked XnView network activity with TCPView, but XnView is completely silent.
We need more info how check for update works to be able pinpoint the culprit.

Largely uncovered story, since the Windows 8.1 update has been released there have been many reports sent to Microsoft about how FTP is completely broken in Windows 8.1 clients.

It's been reported that the new Internet Explorer 11 updates the Wininet.dll file and is no longer able to function with passive FTP requests. Although this may not effect many savvy FTP program users, it completely destroys anyone who has a program that relies on the default Windows (IE based) FTP protocols. [As an example our doc control system from our ERP vendor uses Windows based FTP and now we are completely screwed!]

The real kicker is that Microsoft hasn't officially acknowledged the bug or issued a hot fix yet but there were reports of this problem in the 8.1 developer preview. Windows 8.1 cannot be downgraded to Windows 8 and Internet Explorer 11 can not be downgraded to 10 after 8.1 has been installed.
