Hi, have not really tried new xnview versions much lately so I do not know if something changed.
As far as I know you have that yellow xnview folder as default.
Picture will be taken from image folder (folder.jpg, or else) and will be displayed as thumbnail on that yellow folder, right?
Now, would you be willing to make it so if xnview comes across desktop.ini that points to let say folder.ICO, takes that icon and replaces that default yellow folder with that custom icon?
Reason for it is that I made custom rounded icons for some folders as I liked how iPhoto on mac displayed folder thumbnails.
Let me know if you have any questions as I am not sure if I have explained well enough.
Cheers
replace yellow folder with folder Icon from Desktop.ini

Right. Of course, only if the folder.jpg exist. If it doesn't the program makes a thumb from the first one or four images which it finds in that folder.Picture will be taken from image folder (folder.jpg, or else) and will be displayed as thumbnail on that yellow folder, right?
For me it is clear enough.Let me know if you have any questions as I am not sure if I have explained well enough.

1. Possible cross-platform issues
2. ICO scaling for big thumbs
3. Relative importance of this feature
