Two questions from a beginner

Post by Clausen »

Hi there,

Recently I switched from IrfanView that I used for at least 10 years to XnView because I find it much better in means of interface, speed of handling larger files, and the overall usability,
but have still two questions:

1) Doubleclicking a image file always opens it in fullscreen mode. I don't want that but rather viewing it directly in the image viewer (not the browser). How can I change that?

2) Sometimes fullscreen mode is very useful, but I don't want that info bar to be visible:

Is it possible to switch that off?

Thank you

Hi,
1. There are two way to get to the fullscreen view. Either you change the behaviour of doubleclick in the options menu : F12 then Interface or you simply change your workflow a bit and hit F11 when you want to switch to fullscreen (thats what I did and to my surprize it wasn't a big deal. After 2 days it was already integrated in my workflow and felt fully natural)
2. The Info is fully customizable in the options (F12 -> VIEW -> Information) colour of text and background can be changed and the what exactly is displayed is also changeable (to everything you can imagine and more if the pic has exif infos) If you dont want to see any info you can also go to VIEW -> FULLSCREEN and click the checkmark on show information

BTW I have installed my native language (german) and don't know if I translated the parameter in the options menu correct but I guess you'll find them :)

Thank you so far with question 2.

For my first question I may have been a bit imprecise: doubleclicking in the XnView browser never opens images in fullscreen and that's fine.
BUT if I doubleclick them in the Windows Explorer to view in XnView they are always shown in fullscreen. That's what I want to change.
