Toggle left panel

Post by Brother Gabriel-Marie »

How do I toggle the entire left panel (where the tree, favourites and data info are)?
I am looking for a button to put on the toolbar, but can't find one.

Regulare XnView allows you to click on a "gripper" on the splitter bar of that panel and it will open and close the panel. I miss that.

You'll find the buttons for Thumbnails view only and for showing/hiding the Tree/Preview/Info panels in the bottom row of section titled “Main 24x24” on the toolbar icons demo page.

XnTriq (the helpful librarian!)
Thanks again! But, uh, I think you are a step ahead of me. That does indeed seem to be what I am looking for, but uh, (I apologize for having to ask) how do I get that into XnViewMP?

I mean, I can see the "Thumbnails view only" button in the Toolbar customization panel. I also see a button entitled "Show" with a little tree icon.
But I can't use any combination of those to hide the tree. Do I need to perform a trick somewhere?

Ah, I got it to toggle, somewhat. There doesn't seem to be a way to toggle the panel as a whole, but if I use the menu to hide categories and category sets, then I can click on the folders button and the info panel button to toggle the rest. With the three buttons on the toolber (folders, thumbnails-only, and info/preview) one can toggle the panel, but the sequence has to be correct, and you can't have the categories or category sets open in the panel. If you get out of sequence, the toggling doesn't work right.

That sort of comes close to what I was looking for.
Thanks for the icon list, though.

I see what you mean. If I'm not mistaken, the panels have changed in the last version of MP. It may be that the command behind the Thumbnails view only button has to be adapted to these changes.

@Pierre: Can you confirm?

In v0.61, cmd_thumbsView allows users to toggle display of Folders, Favorites, Categories, Info, and Preview in one go. This doesn't seem to be the case anymore in v0.68.

Hi, Mr. XnView!

I don't want to hide the panels individually. I want to toggle on and off the left panel completely. In my thought, it should toggle whatever happens to be docked there - like it does in regular XnView. Regular XnView had the gripper to open and close the pane on the left side of the splitter. But I really like buttons.

You can use cmd_treeShow in toolbar to hide tree panels...
