Batch Processing Issue

Post by MemoryLeak:P »

I've used XnView for years and never really had to contact for anything but lately I have this odd issue with batch processing.

What I did (as usual)

1. Created a blank folder, named it.
2. Selected images from another folder in Xn, selected all, batch process from bmp to jpeg into empty folder.

Nomally this is never a problem however, this last install of XnView seems to keep saying, eg... (Image_004.jpg already exists, overwrite?) Which is odd since it's in a newly created folder where there are no images, the original images are NOT duplicate named so I'm not sure what's going on here. I do know it's a bug which Is why I posted this here.

This happens with raw image files, .bmp, or any I try to convert but only say, every other 4 images it will start to ask and then keep asking.

Thank you.

Oh, if it helps, running Windows 7 x64, clean install, no infections. Using 2.25 XnView, just downloaded and installed.

Hi.

Yeah it's there and I tested the two things, either overwrite or skip, either way it still puts the image into the folder, no duplicates, processed normally but it's a constant prompt to overwrite or not when there doesn't have to be. For example, I have 700 images to process and hit yes or no for every one, in an empty folder. It did in fact crash once when I had walked away and came back. At that point, it actually deleted the whole folder on me, not just the pictures, the actual folder I created. That sort of shook me up as the photos I was processing are originals, luckily the original images were unaffected but the mostly processed images in the folder, again, were gone, along with the folder itself.

If img_004.jpg is being processed, it shows in the folder and IS there but XnView will pop up a message saying it already exists when XnView is the one putting it there.

If I am batch processing for example, three images... 65.bmp, 75.bmp and 85.bmp...

I will create a blank new folder called image folder, or whatever. I select the three image files in Xnview, choose batch process into new folder (image folder) as .jpg.

It pops up said message saying 65.bmp already exists, overwrite or skip or cancel.

When I look in the new folder, image 65.bmp is there and is processed as normal but I am constantly asked for almost EVERY file if I should overwrite or skip.

So yep, The destination filename is the same and is there.

Hi, sure.

As you can see, the image is there, already processed, yet it asks me what I want to do. I also showed my settings, it's on rename, not ask, not overwrite etc...

Again, it was fine through the first few images, then every other image it began to ask me.

I don't really think I understand why the need for all this now.

Honestly, I gave all information more than once, screen shots, information, there's only a hand full of files in the list, it's not like there are a hundred. I had to work 7 days straight so didn't get to look at my post here but again, an answer with a question is ALL I keep getting.

If you don't know what's going on just say so, don't keep making me (the user) jump through ridiculous red tape on this matter.

Well, there are so many other viewers and image handlers, I'll be using a different one from here on. I've had to do ANYWAY due to Xnview not working but I won't be going back to it, nor will I give it any more good ratings.

Good day.

I don't see the input file list, so i can't reproduce this strange behavior...
Or send me the folder with files?

I had this happen recently and the explanation was that there were two files with the same name but different file extensions in the source folder. I was converting PNG to JPG in a new empty folder. Xnview processed the PNG file first and then read the JPG of the same name and advised that there was already a JPG with that name in the destination folder.
