Set open with associated programs as default

Hello, is there a way to set open with associated programs as default? Now when I double-click an item, it's opened in Xnviewmp. Is there a way to double-click an item and have it opened by the associated program? Instead of first right-click and then open with associated program F3? Also, is there a way to do this file type specific? For example, I have a folder of pictures files and I like to keep the files opened by xnviewmp by double-click, but I have another folder of video files that I like to open with media player by double-click. Thank you.

edit: Also found out you need to un-click "show in preview" so double-click opens video files with media player.
