It is probably not a XnViewMP problem but it is a little bit strange one at least.
If I set an offset to taken, digitized and modified dates (from taken date) on ORF files (i.e. Olympus raw files) which have an orientation tag not "Horizontal" ("Rotate 90 CW for example), the modified files cannot be imported anymore by Darktable (Error reading TIFF structure. Unknown Type 0x3043 encountered).
There is no problem when setting an offset time to ORF files which have an orientation tag "Horizontal" !
It is probably a Darktable problem but I don't understand how metadata could be messed up only changing values of existing fields ('Create Exif metadata if needed' option is unchecked when I set the offset).

Re: Strange problem in case of timestamp change
I tried the same operation directly with Exiftool (v9.74) : exiftool -AllDates+=1:05 <directory> and I got the same error into Darktable so it is not a XnViewMP problem
I posted a report to the Exiftool forum.
