Making Captions Visible

Post by RobertWA »

Hi all,

I have a large number of photos to which I have added captions using Photoshop Elements. These captions can be set to display (or not) by changing settings within Elements. The captions are stored in the metadata of each photo under the heading "Description".

I would like to be able to create copies of these photos with the captions visible on them, so that they can be viewed (complete with captions) by other people using other software, without having to require the use of Photoshop Elements. I would like to be able to use the current captions from within the metadata rather than have to re-enter every caption individually on each photo. Can XnView do this, and, if so, how?

Thanks in advance.

Writing metadata is new to me but if I understand correctly this is the option (or about the option...) you need:

Tools > Batch Processing...
Image_1_b.png
If you wish to place the caption below the image, then you could extend the canvas below the image in a previous 'Canvas resize' batch operation.

IMPORTANT

Always work with copies of your images as once text has been written to an image it becomes part of the image ('burned in') and cannot be removed later: XnView software does not support layers.
