Folder restriction

Post by bradburymars »

How do I restrict the folders XnView MP uses actively? On first opening it scanned the entire computer and listed all folders and pictures on the computer. I was hoping to organize pics from 30 years of my father, a pro photographer of 30 years, now deceased. I don't need the added clutter of 3000 FaceBook jokes, catalogs of things I sell on e-bay, 60 years of vacation, etc. The photos I wish to sort are on a external terrabyte drive usually connected to an un-networked computer and scanners. I do not anticipate problems reading the ext drive when I connect. Thanks for your help in advance.

XnViewMP list only pictures on the current folder, not all

Welcome to the forum, bradburymars.

There's (currently) no way to completely hide drives or folders from XnViewMP, but you can tell the program not to cache thumbnails and metadata of images on certain drives or in specific folders:
  • Tools » Settings... » Database » Excluded/Included » Add folder...
Since you're going to work with photos on an external HDD, you may also want to deactivate Always exclude removable drives.
