Move Multiple Files at the Same Time

Post by Brans »

One major thing I was hoping that would be changed with the latest update is the current limitation that only one image or video file at a time can be moved in XnViewMP. It would be extremely helpful if multiple files can be moved at the same time exactly the same way files and folders can be moved in Windows.

In other words, be able to highlight multiple files wherever they are in XnViewMP as the Windows feature (Ctrl+left click, Shift+left click and simple highlighting in a row by dragging) does, and move them to the desired location/order in XnViewMP.

It seems that the issue isn't with the transfer (move) engine per se. If one moves multiple MOVIE files, then the transfer engine in its delete phase conflicts with the Thumbnail Generation thread.

IOW the file is locked by the background process which generates the thumbnails and hence the transfer subsystem cannot delete the file from the old location, thing which is a necessary step in the Move variant.

Thanks for the info. I had no idea that something like that is so complicated.

So as I understand it, it is impossible to move multiple files at the same time using XNViewMP?
