Importing keywords from list
Re: Autoload keywords list possible?
We would like to import this list of keywords/categories which we have saved on a text file with tabulations as you instructed another user. How and where should we import this list ?
If there is a hierarchy in the category list, how would the category sets be useful?
Thank you in advance.

Re: Autoload keywords list possible?
If you look at the last couple of messages on my other post titled 'Setting up Xnview - Categories and keywords' you will see that my Category Pane is not as it should be. The instructions I received to add a search bar seem to me to be aimed at a programmer, which I am not. As you are the author of this program, could you please take a look at my screen shot and explain in detail how I can make XnView work properly in terms of importing keywords/Categories and having a complete Category pane. See screen shot:
Thank you.Re: Autoload keywords list possible?
You wrote: you can import it in category pane (little menu)
Would you mind being more precise Pierre please? I have no idea how to do this am wasting a lot of time when I should be doing other stuff.
Thank you.

Re: Autoload keywords list possible?
Yes I am on Mac OS X 10.9.5. My category pane does not work at all.
Re: Importing keywords from list
I have just tried again, by selected some photos first, then a category and I got the menu you were talking about. Since we have already uploaded the category list to the wrong place once, I would appreciate step-by-step instructions on how to import it into the right place.
Many thanks.Re: Importing keywords from list
I explained all this to you in my other thread titled 'setting up keywords and categories'. I have just about given up on the idea of using this program as the feedback is so minimum and insufficient. Your answers would be fine on a telephone conversation but not for a support forum.
Very disappointed in this support.

Re: Importing keywords from list
It is important to remember that XnView software is provided as freeware for non-commercial use, and that all XnView family software is the work of a single developer. And realistically, even users who have bought a licence can only expect very limited direct support, for very practical and good reasons. Pierre has always been very responsive to user requests for new features, but his priority must always be to continue development of the software.hpu wrote:Very disappointed in this support.
Documentation is the least interesting part of any project; documentation for XnView software has always been developed by forum members, the community, and in the past some members have contributed substantially, although not so much recently. And as new functions are added, or changes are made to the interface, it becomes increasingly challenging to maintain current documentation.
It would be good if more forum members who use the browser functions you wish to use could offer support

If you are able to continue and finally master the browser interface, you would be excellently placed to develop current documentation for those functions!!

Re: Importing keywords from list
I am not a developer and do not have time to start getting involved in XnView Support. I asked for the minimum amount of information in order to set up this program correctly. The replies have come in fits and starts and have not added up to enough consistent information and guidance. There appears to be no guide at all to refer to you.
With all due respect, this is very disappointing.

Re: Importing keywords from list
Yes, but I hope you now understand the reasons, and may even one day be able to contribute yourself if you figure out how to use the browser the way you want...hpu wrote:With all due respect, this is very disappointing.
