xnviewmp .76 crashing after some period of time left alone

Post by minsik »

Xnviewmp .76.1 seems to run fine and many things fixed but on my Windows 10 64 bit it appears to be either locking upor crashing if left running on the computer.
After bringing program back into focus and trying to continue using it appears to be locking up.

any clues or diagnosis ideas?

Do you have any video files which might be found as the browser creates the database??

no video files in the area that xnviewmp was sitting. I removed and deleted the install directory and reinstalled. seemed to be a lot faster runnning but after a while when opening a pic file it crashed again

win 10 54bit with 64bit program .
I will try 32bit version and see how that goes.

re the video files would it help turning off the video files in the option view section?

thanks.

I was thinking that there have been a lot of problems reported recently related to video files and codecs, and that the delay before the lockup occurs might possibly be related to the time taken to create or update the database.

I think looking for possible associations with the lockup, as you are doing, is the best approach, for example whether it occurs when opening a particular file type, or consistently in any other circumstances...

64-bit programs require 64-bit plugins, so a missing or incompatible plugin for a video format or some other function might possibly be the cause??

Thankyou for helping.

I will try that but this is not a Dell PC so dont know what effect the commands will have.
It is an Asus MB with i5 cpu and 8gig ram with Windows 10 64bit OS.
if there is other information I can provide please suggest.
Currently I have removed 64bit XnviewMp and using 32bit XnviewMp which is very stable.

thanks again for an excellent programming effort. Magnafiquie!
