I have a number of CD's from Seattle FilmWorks ( later known as PhotoWorks) with the extension SFW. They were made for Windows and I now have a MAC; so I can't open them. I downloaded the MAC version of XnView. The photos opened up as thumbnails in XnView, but I couldn't do anything else with them. They would not convert and when I hit the exportConvert button and tried to save them as JPG, I got a string of numbers for each file with"create error" next to each one. I am stymied. What am I doing wrong?

Re: Converting Seattle FilmWorks CD's to JPG
- Input tab
- Add files... (or Add folder...)
Select the FilmWorks files you'd like to convert.
- Add files... (or Add folder...)
- Actions tab
- Clear all
Since we're only going to change the format of the pictures, we have to make sure that all “actions” (e.g. Resize, Adjust, Sharpen) are discarded.
- Clear all
- Output tab
- Select a destination Folder for the converted files.
- Use the settings in the screenshot for the rest of the options.
Note: I went for PNG as the output format. It's widely supported by graphics programs as well as web browsers. Unlike JPEG however, it offers lossless compression which means that the quality of your photos won't be degraded during conversion. - Hit the Convert button.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I've since found your topics on Computing.Net:
The first dates back to 2011, so it's about time for a solution.
BTW: Shout-outs to jonesrh who sure is the interweb's numero uno authority on PhotoWorks/FilmWorks! Thanks for the much needed laugh (-:
