avoid thumbnail in folder

I'd like not to see a thumbnail within the folder icon - on certain folders...

The setting "cataloug" "exclude / include" does not work, to receive the desired behaviour.
I've also tried to put a ".nomedia" file within the folder to exclude - no luck.

Please advise me how to configure properly - or implement the desired behaviour,

Preferences > File List > custom filter

Make sure that in folder / show icon is unchecked.
