View .MOV files

Post by Brother Gabriel-Marie »

In Classic I was able to double-click on a .MOV file to load it into the View Mode where it would play and I could watch it.
When I double-click to View it, nothing happens - a tab doesn't even open.
In the settings for View, I have Settings > View > Misc. > Play Video checked.

Now, I can see the video in the little Preview Panel, but not in the full View Mode.

What is the trick to get it to load into View Mode and play?

Re: Viewing Video Files

Well, apparently, I do. I tried an mp4 and had the same issue.

But I don't have the problem if I open them from Explorer instead of MP.

I tried again today, and this time MP froze up - it ghosted over and would not respond and the .MOV would not display in the Preview Panel. I've tried this twice over, so far - after MP froze, I killed the process and started again and still had the same issue.

So I tried another time. This time, I chose an mp4 with no thumbnail. The Preview Panel was blank, but the controls were there, so I pushed play and it played. This worked several times over. But when I selected a jpg file afterward, the image preview did not load and was still stuck on the video player controls and it caused MP to freeze.

Normally, I have video files set to open with VLC.
