100% and Double-Click to Browser

Post by Brother Gabriel-Marie »

In MP v.79, I set the zoom to 100%.
However, for large images (jpegs from my camera) it renders as fit-to-screen rather than displaying at 100%. Does 100% mean 100% of the window or 100% image resolution? At any rate here, I can see in the zoom box in the status bar that it is only at 45%, not 100%.

Anyway, something strange happens here.
So I have it set so that I use double-click to switch between browser and view modes.
Now, when I go to double-click, the first click (no matter how fast I do it) zooms the image to 100% before it switches views.
This is unexpected. Double-click should only change views - it shouldn't zoom and then change.
However, when I single-click and hold the mouse button, it shows me the image at 100% as long as the mouse is held.

Here's what I expect.
I think 100% should mean 100% image resolution, or 1:1. When this is set, it should not try to re-fit the image to the screen when I cycle through images.
When I double-click to change views, it should not zoom to 100% before switching.

Is there a way to configure my settings correctly or is something out of whack?

I can't figure out how to turn this off and it's making me crazy.

So, I'm going through a bunch of photographs (jpegs).
From the browser I double-click to open it in View mode.
Then I want to double-click to return to browser mode.
But when I hit the first click of the double-click action, the mouse cursor turns to a hand and the image expands to full res (bigger than my 1920x1080 screen) until I hit the second click when it goes to browser mode.
The effect is annoying and it makes me dizzy after I go through a couple dozen images that way.
It also happens that the Preview Panel's zoom does the same thing - when I left-click on it, it zooms the image - which is fine with me in the Preview Panel.

How do I turn this off? I don't want the image to change size whilst I am double-clicking.

I've tried changing the setting in View > Preview > Auto Image Size > No Fit to prevent this. I've also tried Fit Larger only.

So, went to Settings > Interface > Mouse
and changed the left button from Move Picture to Make Selection. And I changed the right button from Make Selection to Move Picture.
Now, this fixes the weird zooming issue when I double-click between Browser and View Mode. Funny thing is that I don't have the weird problem with the right mouse button - that is, when I click the right mouse button it doesn't cause the image to zoom. It also causes the Preview Panel not to zoom, too.

This is all rather confusing to me. I think there is a couple settings which have their innards mixed up.

Before I had Left Button set to Move Picture, and Right Button set to Make Selection.

ok, right if Left button has 'Move selection', when you click you have this zoom behaviour. The problem is when you make a double click...

Pierre,

Yes, that's it.
It's a user-experience issue.
If the user expects that double-click ought to switch modes, then, if he has also set the left-mouse button as move picture (which is allowed by the settings), then MP needs to understand not to render the first-click of the double-click as the "move picture" command.
