"Error while opening the file" on mac/OS-X 10.11.6

A few weeks ago I installed the newest version of XnViewMP on my Mac (at the moment OS-X 10.11.6).
This was the first time I installed XnViewMP.
In the beginning there were no problems, but since a few days XnViewMP brings an error message everytime when I open it.
After closing the error window XnViewMP is also terminated. So I have no chance to get into the program.
The error message is "Fehler beim Öffnen der Datei" (Error while opening the file).

I uninstalled the app , deleted all config files (using AppCleaner) and reinstalled XnViewMP.
But I get still the same error message.
Can anybody help, please?

i have the same problem, but i don´t know what is: check ~/.xnviewmp folder
Please give me another hint...

in your home folder, there is a hidden folder .xnviewmp

thx, i found and delete this Folder.. now xnview runs again.
