0.81: Scrolling anomaly

Post by RMMM »

The view pane responds to mouse wheel movements by scrolling up and down the file list of the current directory. However, if you scroll up to the top of a directory listing, to the ".." representing the enclosing directory, then scroll down no longer works.

I checked and the problem is still present in version .82.

I should be clear that when I refer to scrolling, I mean scrolling in the preview pane, not the directory listing. In other words, the preview pane has focus and the mouse is hovering over the image.

Most likely XnView decides how to respond to a mouse scroll action based on the file type that is selected, or on the tab in the preview pane that is selected. If the file type is a folder (for instance ".."), then it is responding by doing nothing. Or perhaps, when a directory is selected, XnView switches to some other kind of view which no longer responds to mouse wheel scrolling. Check the code for how the different panes respond to mouse wheel scrolling. I'll bet you find that there are situations where there is no response.

Since you are not experiencing the problem, whether it responds with no action must depend on some settings or details of the setup, or you simply misunderstood the problem I was reporting.

Do you have this problem with clean .ini?
