I'm unable to delete directories, even empty ones, in the browser mode.
Clicking the red X icon doesn't work, right clicking and selecting either, pressing DEL either.
I do see the confirmation dialog, but nothing else happens afterwards.
SPECS: Linux Mint 17.3 with KDE4.

No I don't have gvfs-trash.
I have to point out that files are not moved to trash properly either, they are simply deleted permanently.
However, when I disabled the "use Recycle Bin" in the "File Operations" settings, it does delete directories (permanently!) properly.
I guess recycle bin implementation can differ from distro to distro which is why it's not consistently working?

if you have not gvfs-trash, i try to move the file into ~/.Trash folder
