Adding text and shapes

Post by substorm »

Is there any way to add text and shapes in XnViewMP ? The classic one had the paint plugin which wasn't ideal but worked for the most part. Anything similar in MP? If not, is there a third-party plugin that would provide such functionality?

I know it's pushing it but if anyone has used Screenpresso or FastStone Capture, I would love to see a similar set of drawing & text tools in XnViewMP, namely:
- Text with standard options such as size, font, bold, italic, shadow, transparency, alignment, background, resizeble text box
- shapes: circles, rectangles, bubbles, arrows, custom vector objects, with option to resize, shadow, transparency, glow, etc.
- obfuscate (blur out)
- highlight
- Automatic numbering (numbers and letters)

Too bad. Any idea when we might see it? How about a third-party plugin/tool that could be integrated within XnViewMP?

I would think that this would be more of a feature of a editor program.

I stumbled over this thread as well as the thread 'Open with Associated Editor (F4) isn't working for me' at http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.p ... lit=EDITOR
I wasn't aware of the F4 button to be frank.

Can't find any toolbar button, or reference under 'Edit' that hints to the Paint editor functionality.

Would it be possible to change F4 to launch another editor?
A small one that allows users to add arrows, comments, colored boxes, etc.
e.g. how to set F4 to launch SnagItEditor?

where can I find the F4 setting?

Thanks

earlier versions of XNView had this capability...why it was removed I don't know. I used to be able to add text to an image (eg, under "Edit" add "text" for a name to the bottom of a photograph for identity), but no more. That was so handy.

The Paint plugin is available in XnView Classic.
