Unable to re-open XnView
I run Windows 10 on a Toshiba laptop that was purchased new in 2015 and am using XnView version 2.39 as my default viewer for jpg files. When I try to re-open XnView the program is stuck on the last folder I viewed. I have to use Windows Explorer to stop XnView. To see a jpg file I need to find it in Windows Explorer and click on it. XnView works then and I can see the file. Is there a way to recover the capacity to access jpg files directly from XnView? Jim
Re: Unable to re-open XnView
Welcome to the XnView forum, Jim, and thank you for posting your issue.
ATM, I'm not quite clear what exactly your problem is:
When starting XnView it is XnView's default behaviour to open the browser in the last used directory. Do you want XnView to open up always in the same directory? If yes, you can specify the directory in Tools > Options | General | Operations. There is the setting "Startup Directory".
Could you please specify in some more detail the steps that did work for your in the past. Which of these steps no longer work?

Re: Unable to re-open XnView
Hello helmut,
I've used XnView for years but recently find that when I re-open XnView the program cannot re-open. If it went back to the last folder I viewed that would be fine, but XnView cannot open that file. I'm accessing a directory with about 8000 folders that contain about 41,000 files, and the total size is 30G. Someone told me my filenames are too long, but I've created long file names for years without a problem before.

Re: Unable to re-open XnView
The step that no longer works is when I turn on my computer and then click on XnView to open the the program. XnView tries to open but it cannot open the last file I viewed. I need to use Task Manager to shut down XnView. If I access a jpg file using Explorer XnView opens and works normally.

You're saying that under Windows 10 [current build?] XnView in effect freezes?irvingpond wrote:The step that no longer works is when I turn on my computer and then click on XnView to open the the program. Re: Unable to re-open XnView
Re: Unable to re-open XnView
Re: Unable to re-open XnView
