Use original path as Output v Keep Subfolder Structure

Hi all,

Can someone tell a complete novice in plain English what these options do?

I have 1000's of images saved in a folder/subfolder structure that I want to resize and watermark into a new folder with the same subfolder structure.

Do in need to create an empty subfolders structure first in my output directory, if so will either of these recognise the relative structure i have created? Or will either of these options automatically create and populate the subfolders.

if you use 'keep subfolder structure', XnView try to recreate the common path between all images into output folder
you can try with 2 files from different folder.

Hi Pierre, Thanks for the reply however it seems to be creating the file in the Output folder (D:\HiLevel) and not creating or populating "Carburetors\Jets in that folder?- see image

There is another possible approach to getting the result you want: make a copy of the file structure containing the files you wish to batch process, and then apply the desired actions to those files...

The following screenshots show a quick test I devised that seems to have produced the required result, see if you can follow it and obtain the result you need:

In my test the files in all the folders were processed correctly in situ...

Always experiment with copies of your files!

Thanks cday but i am still confused

I have created a duplicate, empty folder structure in a new root folder "D:Resized" using xcopy /t /e. Using the below settings I was hoping the two files would recreated in "D:\Resized\Air filters\Honda" but it does not seem to work for me? Any thoughts?

I haven't really been entirely clear about what you wish to do, and this is also a function I haven't explored in detail before...

I'm assuming that you wish to process the files in the folders in some way, rather than just move them to a new location, and the idea I tested was to make a copy of the existing folder structure, including the files in them, then batch process those files with the required actions, then edit any paths as necessary.

In my test all the files in the folder structure were processed correctly, which seemed like a step forward, but whether that is useful to you I don't know.

Edit:

For ultimate clarity about what you want to achive you could create a simple, minimal file structure with token small images in the folders, like the one I used in my test, and a second one showing what you wish to change the first into, and then place them both in a ZIP (2MiB max) and upload it so that anyone can try to obtain the result you need.
