Hi,
I often use XNview to batch rename my images in various ways, xnview is absolutely wonderful in this regard, however i do have a question.
Everytime i open a folder with 1000 images and i want to rename them, there's a "process bar" down in the right corner, i do not know what this process is doing since i am not displaying thumbnails, but it appears this process maybe reading image data to display resolution and other embedded data inside the images.
I do not care for this data, and i really don't want to wait to rename all the files until xnview has prrocessed all the images meta data. Is there a way to make XNview ignore this completely?
Thanks for this free wonderful program!
Batch processing images, skip waiting for generating meta?

i guess not, to bad :/ really annoying having to wait 5 minutes when doing work on large amount of images :/ perhaps a feature for the future to disable the scanning of embedded meta data as some users may not want to see it anyway.

Hmm, could you please check how files are displayed in the XnView browser:
1. Start XnView (and open XnView browser)
2. Menu "View > View as...")
--> Which of the menu items is checked? Could you please try and check "Details"? Is it still slow? if yes, could you please try and check "List"?

Re: Batch processing images, skip waiting for generating met
Both acts exactly the same, list and details...
But!
It appears if i have details, it starts doing whatever loading thing it does, i switch to list... it starts loading again, then i switch back to details and i have no load time, not a nice solution but i guess that works somehow, i have no idea what it is loading though. It's the load bar in the bottom right that i have to wait for to finish or else i can write or change all the images due to them being read by xnview.

Re: Batch processing images, skip waiting for generating met
Nevermind my previous post, that was just a fluke for some reason.
Generating "Type" meta cannot be skipped! Large images take around 1 second to process 5 "type", imagine having 20 000 images you wish to rename and it takes 1 second for 5 images to process... that's a lot of wasted time for nothing, can you give us an option to opt out of any reading of the tags? or atleast a "cancel button" in the bottom right corner to skip the process that's going on.

Not complaining here, xnview is a tremendously helpful program and free, just trying to improve it, have a good day!

1 second for each picture file to get metadata information, strange?? Could you send me one file?d4rk0n3 wrote: Generating "Type" meta cannot be skipped!
