XnView Classic and XnView MP both can read images directly from a scanner using the TWAIN interface.
Please note that XnView MP 64-bit version 0.84 and before does not support TWAIN. Please use XnView MP 32-bit or XnView MP 0.85 or later if you want to use TWAIN.
