EXIF-<Date Taken> is not available after Creating Webs

Post by Guest »

I try to create a WebSite-Galery.
I want to display the Exif-data <Date Taken> at each thumbnail.
It works proper, if I don't use the option to resize the images, but it does not work if I reduce the size to a maximum.

The original images are to big for the internet, so I told XnView to reduce the image size to maximum 800*800 pixel.

Looking to the reduced images I found out that all EXIF-data vanished away.

Then I tried to resize the images in an extra step, using the menu entry to convert pictures. But here I am not allowed to select a whole directory, I have to type in a pattern for the files and a range of consecutive numbers. So I can select only single files or a few amount of files to start the convertion. In this procedure the reduced files keep their EXIF-Data, but my original images are made by various cameras and the type of filenames are also various. And I prefer to keep the original filenames.

Isn't there any easy way to reduce the sizes in one step ?

2 ways that I know of:
  • Select the images in the browser, then Tools>Batch Convert...>Advanced Operations and select "Resize" (Lanczos resampling is recommended)
  • If you are running Win XP, you can use the Image Resizer PowerToy
