0.84: Compression type for thumbnails not persitent

Post by helmut »

XnView: MP 0.84
OS: Windows XP - 32 bit

When setting the compression type of thumbnails, this settings does not persist: After closing and reopening the setting is reset to "Lossy - High quality (JPG)".

Effect: Unexpected behaviour. Functionality not available

To reproduce:
1. Select compression type "Lossy - High quality (WebP)" in Tools » Settings | Browser » Catalog | Catalog.
2. Confirm with "OK" button.
3. Reopen settings
Actual behaviour (bug): Compression type has been reset to "Lossy - High quality (JPG)" :bug:

Expected behaviour: Compression type should be "Lossy - High quality (WebP)".

I found out about the problem:
On Windows XP, the webp.dll causes a problem, see InitializeCriticalSectionEx. To solve this problem I have renamed the webp.dll. Whenever choosing compression type "Lossy - High quality (WebP)" XnView silently reset to default because this compression type is not available.

Silent actions/changes are never good, but Windows XP is running out...
