0.72 Linux: Delete does not work for file on linux nfs share

Post by jthomlin »

Hi,

Running on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64bit with files on locally mounted drives and nfs mount from Synology NAS.

All file operations work fine on locally mounted drive, but delete does not on the nfs mounted drive. The thumbnail is removed but the file is never actually deleted, and it appears again after a F5 refresh or exiting and re-entering the directory. Interestingly, move does work which indicates that MP has enough permission to delete the file.

Note: I have no problem using command line, nautilus or gthumb to delete files on the nfs mount so it isn't a general permissions issue.

Also noticed that when dragging a file to a directory in the folders tree, the cursor icon does not change from a plus to an arrow if shift is pressed after the file has begun to be dragged, whereas pressing shift before the drag does change to an arrow (A move is correctly performed in either case).

I have same issue but on local drive. When I delete a file from XnViewMP it first shows folder w/o the deleted file but when I navigate back to this folder again file appears non-deleted. So actual delete action is not performed.

There's a workaround for this: disable "Use Recycle Bin" in settings (General -> File operations). Maybe this can shed some light on the possible source of the problem

Unfortunately your workaround doesn't fix the problem for nfs shares ... :(

WORKARROUND
I am using XnViewMP
Version 0.72 x32 (Dec 19 2014)
Libformat version 6.64
on Suse Linux 13.1
and had the same problem: No File deletion on windows shared partitions, no matter what kind of format (NFts or vfat) they had.
In former versions of Xnview MP it worked without any problem.
Following the suggestion of lionel I edited the etc/fstab file (as SU) and inserted my uid=1000 in the description of the windows shared haddisk.
What happend after first restart of the system was curios: Deletion functioned without any problem and I found the deleted files in the
trash basket of my normal Linux home directory.
After next system start this behavior changed: Now there was a new hidden trash basket in the ground directory of the windows shared disk called .Trash-1000 and all
Xnview deleted files where gathered there. This remained. You can work now normally with XnviewMP. The only thing you habe to do from time to time is to delete the deleted Files in
this basket by using Dolphin. Or, naturally, you can restore them by using Dolphin.

Still have the issue in XnView MP 0.83 end of 2016! How come this issue has not been fixed yet. It renders XnView useless for me under Linux.
