0.84: Navigation in Viewer broken after renaming

Post by m.Th. »

Ok, I think I found it.

The source for http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?f=103&t=35015 and perhaps other related threads with sorting in Viewer.

Steps:

0. Have a folder with files called 100.jpg, 101.jpg, 102.jpg ... sorted by Name.
1. Go to file 105.jpg (for example) and rename it to 99.jpg - after renaming DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING. Now, the thumb of the file 99.jpg should stay in the 6th position where it was when it was named 105.jpg.
2. Double-Click on the 104.jpg (the file before it). It should open in the Viewer.
3. Press the „Next” ( ==> ) arrow to go to 99.jpg

Expected: I would say to show the 106.jpg.

Actual: Both arrow buttons do not work anymore.

Re: 0.84: How to blow up the navigation in Viewer

m.Th., I've tried quite a bit but couldn't reproduce your problem. I've screen recorded my steps: topic_30577_a.wmv

- Do you use in-situ renaming (default) or the rename dialog (setting "Use dialog to rename file/folder" in Tools » Settings | Interface | General)?
- If it's in-situ renaming: Do you press "Enter" to finish the in-situ renaming?

Hum... it seems that it is a problem in 0.85 beta 1. Also, is not related to editing. My movie: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B3Qyc ... 25mVzRWT2c

Thank you for creating a screen video showing the problem, m.Th.. I experienced very similar problems with .svg files. Do you have other folders with .cr2 files which also cause problems? What happens if you copy the complete folder and delete some of the .cr2 files?

BTW: Which screen video capture program did you use, m.Th.?

It seems that Pierre found it. :D

...it also seems odd (for me) that it seems to count what file format is. Usually it should be just a „blind” list of file name eager to be loaded...

Camtasia Studio.
